The Village - Studio City
Say it ain’t so I will not go…. to the valley. It was 20 degrees warmer over the hill, but these folks at the Village are worth making the tumble over from my hood.
This gastropub is the brains of Frank Leon, you may know that familiar name as he is Ellen Degeneres’ personal chef. Think really good, quality-sized pizzas, fabulous cocktails over-flowing with flavor and intensity, small plates and a really comfy, chill hang out spot. That’s everything that this Studio City hideaway exudes.
My personal favorite was the short ribs over polenta… and look I know this is a tapas style place, but some of their options are kicked up a notch! The more the merrier, right? These suckers were so flavorful and just falling apart before my fork even hit ‘em. The beef and lamb burger was also a bit bigger than your usual tapas plate. WOW… and holy cow, quite literally — well almost literally. Smothered over with a fried egg — I’ve never had egg on a burger before, but that might be my new favorite condiment.

You can never go wrong with brussels sprouts (at least I think so) — Frank spoils you with these bad boys. They are cooked to perfection and seasoned with sweetness and literally melt in your mouth.
Keep in mind this place is new, so they are still trying out new things with the menu and the staff is still getting accustomed. Aside, it was all really flavorful food and a very friendly atmosphere. The chef even came out to greet me personally. I don’t think that’s ever happened to me.
They also have a full service bar with specialty drinks named after famous folks. One of which, named after Julia Child called the ‘Honey Child.’ Not to be confused with that beauty queen that runs around and yells “honey boo, boo child.” It’s quite yummy.
