The Whisper Lounge at The Grove
The Whisper Lounge at The Grove invited us to taste the amazing flavors being cooked up by Executive Chef Anthony Jacquet. The inside of The Whisper Lounge is a step back into 1940s speakeasy Hollywood, where classy entertainment meets unique drinks and deliciously thought-out food. Take a break from shopping and refuel on their breezy patio or just relax under the amber lights with a stirred drink.
Normally I wouldn’t recommend calamari. It’s not because I’m disgusted by squid. It’s because crappy bar-food-calamari is the worst, and almost everyone cooks it wrong. Often, it’s the sauce that you dip the crunchy chewy little beasts into that gives them any flavor at all.
But the calamari at Whisper Lounge is crispy fried and served with a sweet chili-garlic sauce and grilled lime. Asian flavors emerge with a light citrus taste. This calamari is a great non-filling starter plate.
I’m a bit of a sucker for lamb, so when I see it on the menu, I must order it and all its yumminess. The Australian Lamb Burger (Plate magazine’s award winning burger) with roasted jalapeno aioli, arugula, Brie cheese, and cranberry compote does a belly happy.
I also enjoyed The Hawaiian Albacore Tuna Tartare with crispy wonton and a sesame, citrus ginger vinaigrette.
If you’re in the area, (and not on a budget!) check it out The Whisper Lounge. It’s a classy joint with some tasty options that’s worth the visit.
