The Bowery - Hollywood
Feast your eyes on what is often called the best burger in LA from LA’s first gastropub —
This masterpiece comes on an English muffin stacked with just about as many toppings as you can fit in your mouth. Get it with regular or sweet potato fries and try not to get distracted by the awesome Hollywood edgy party scene nearby. While I was eating Skrillex unloaded right in front of the joint. If that doesn’t explain the scene to you at all…then I don’t know what else will. LOL.
Owner George Abou-Daoud mixes comfort foods with great cocktails and a great pub feel. Come in and have a drink or two before going out on the town to the many bars and clubs that abound with Hollywood nightlife. This bar is a great asset to Hollywood’s New Yorkers, because it gives you that quintessential New York feel in the hustle and bustle of Hollywood.
This place is LOADED with comfort food CRAVINGS…. like this AMAZING spread of Mac and Cheese:
This is probably the best mac ‘n’ cheese I’ve ever tasted in LIFE. Seriously, get there, sit down and order this. Don’t even look at the menu. It’s not necessary.
The Mac dish comes with cheddar and Parmesan cheeses topped off with herbed bread crumbs. Bon Appetit!
It happened to be cold, dreary, and raining when I stopped by and all of those things mean “screw healthy eats and diets and it’s time to PIG the F out.” So essentially I kept it going and did just that and was told I had to try the gravy fries:
I’m usually not one to eat this kind of stuff, but hell I was all over these. I really enjoyed the taste of the tender roast brisket with gravy mixed with the cheddar cheese on top. YUM!!!
You will not leave hungry. The portions here are filling and there are great finger foods to pick at while sipping your fabulous cocktail. It’s great for a quick lunch or a quick pre-game spot. I found it fairly centrally located to all of the Hollywood hotspots.
I will say the burger buns need to be a bit bigger. The burger was kinda tough to eat and a wee bit messy for me, but what the hell—I wasn’t trying to be all classy and dignified. I was enjoying a great burger; that’s what napkins are for.
If it tickles your fancy—tell George we sent ya! ;)
