Tub’s Fine Chili - Culver City

Tub’s is one of those places you can’t help but root for. They’re making the best of their not-spectacular location by churning out some of the best damn chili in town and if you call ahead, you can pull up behind their place, honk your horn, and they’ll come right out and bring you some.

That’s right, they will bring great chili to your car if you pull up in the alley in the back.

It’s all pretty damn tasty, but you’ll wanna be gettin’ some cornbread involved. The Chili Shooter, a cornbread chili-bowl filled with any one of their great chilis and topped with melted cheese is a must, especially as it’s only $3.50. Hell, you should probably just order a few of those and do a chili flight. The Chili Dingo is also pretty fantastic—a chili dog on a cornbread bun. Yep. It’s pretty much as good as you’re imagining right now. The only thing Drew and I differed on was the vegan chili; Drew could not be swayed by its charms, but I thought it was delicious.

Places like Tub’s are the reason LA Foodie exists. Finding little mom & pop places that are just doing their damndest to get their awesome food to the masses so they can make a living doing what they love… that’s what we’re all about.

These guys just love chili. If you’ve been hankering for a bowl of warm, long-simmered comfort delivered in a moist cornbread shell, get the hell over here. This place is worth the drive.

The Hat - Temple City

Yum, you guys. Yum. This place has some real tasty eats. Probably one of our faves so far. We got some chili cheese pastrami fries that were seriously off the hook.

Their signature pastrami dip was also really tasty. You really can’t go wrong with anything here! This is our leader so far for L.A.’s best drive thru!

Broguiere’s Dairy - Montebello

Drive through dairy? It’s a thing! And it’s kind of awesome. The dairy products were obviously super-fresh. They had milk, chocolate milk, and egg nog, which were all great.

They also had eggs and some other convenience store type accoutrements. It’s a pretty unique, fun place to visit, and there are a lot of dairies similar in style in the area. We would have loved it if they had other dairy products as well, such as cheese or ice cream.
